An Open Letter to the Church
For many years, I have watched in silence as you have done harm to the sons and daughters of God, the same harm you brought upon me. I am here to inform you that those days are over.
In your time of influence, you have done some good. You have preached the gospel and led many to receive a new life in Jesus. You have opened people’s understanding to certain areas of the Word of God and revealed some of His ways.
However, you have cursed the majority of believers by teaching that they need to rely on some form of law-keeping to earn or maintain God’s favour (see Galatians 3:10).
I will not waste my time pointing out every instance any more than I would try to convince a narcissist of their patterns of abuse. My words will be twisted around, and I will be made to seem like the problem.
It will suffice to point out that when believers come under your system, they end up performing to stay saved, in one form or another. The evidence is everywhere, should you wish to open your eyes wide enough.
You imply that believers must avoid sin and pursue holiness in order to stay right with God.
I say there are many good reasons to resist sin and pursue holiness, but maintaining right standing with God is not one of them.
Here lies the great difference between us, a difference that places you on cursed ground, which is why I can no longer stand with you.
This is how it will be from now on because God Himself is setting a new system in place, and nothing shall prevail against it:
Believers will be assured of their salvation from the moment they believe the gospel. This is called assurance by faith.
Believers will be discipled by grace, not law. They will be taught to move deeper into Jesus’ finished work, experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, and be led into their destiny from internal desire, not external pressure.
Believers will correct one another when appropriate and discourage destructive behaviours without undermining the truth that where sin abounds, grace abounds much more.
Believers will reject any teaching that says we must perform for God’s approval, for such works are stillborn. They are dead works. Believers will instead perform from God’s approval, and thus, honour the finished work of Christ in their service.
The gospel of grace will be offered to the world with one condition only: believe. Any gospel that adds human effort will be instantly written off as a false gospel.
Should you persist in making God’s people feel like they must perform for His favour, you will experience the curse of the law. I don’t care how famous your name or church is. It will all come down like a house of cards.
You will say, ‘Ah, the church is being attacked by the enemy! Pray for us! These are dark days for God’s people!’ But you will be wrong.
The curse of God is getting you out of the way that the Spirit might move freely among the nations without you hindering it. This is why your prayers won’t work, and your spiritual warfare tactics will be useless.
So I will not pray for you in those days. I will not waste my time. I will tell you the only thing you need to know:
If you want God’s help, repent of your self-righteousness and rely fully on Jesus’ finished work.
If you do, God will use you in these days. If you don’t, I say with Paul, may you live a cursed life this side of eternity (see Galatians 1:8-9). May your influence be dried up like bones in the desert. I know these words sound hard to your soft ears, but your self-righteousness is making believers impotent, enslaving churches to demon powers, and stopping multitudes from coming to Jesus to receive eternal life. It cannot and will not continue.
You may temporarily hold the high ground in the church at large, but even now, the Lord is equipping, uniting, and raising a people who obey the gospel and refuse to compromise it. They understand how to be discipled by grace and are bold and free because they know the truth. Out of these people, a people who serve God, not under duress but freely, the Lord will raise leaders, pastors, and gifted believers who will ultimately replace you. Then the world will see the church shining in all her glory, to the glory of God. So be it.
In future, if you wish to communicate with me, do so as one with whom you have nothing in common until you repent. For I have renounced every alliance with any church system or believer that undermines the gospel of grace. You may be my brother or sister in Christ, a fellow citizen of the kingdom, but as long as you are relying on the law to earn God’s favour, I am authorised to cast you out like Hagar and her son, and cast you out I will.
When the clear gospel is taught and believed by the majority, and the Spirit moves mightily among the nations, I can already predict your stereotypical accusations. ‘This is the apostasy! These are the lying signs and wonders!’, you will cry.
But it is not the apostasy, for we have not fallen away from the faith but returned to it in its purity. And these are not lying signs and wonders. They are manifestations of the power of God, manifestations that seem odd to you because you have known nothing of it. Yet this power is already normal for many who refuse to frustrate God’s grace. It will be demonstrated through healing, deliverance, and, perhaps, I hope, even publicly raising the dead. All this to draw people to Christ.
A final warning. Should you attempt to stop this move of God in any way, you will be stopped. Attack it at your own risk. But know this: the curse of God does not sleep. It will pursue and overtake you wherever you may be, and you will not escape.
When your pride has been sufficiently crushed and you choose to rely on Jesus alone, God will restore your losses. It gives Him no pleasure to let you fall, but you have left Him no choice. If you want to rely on your works to earn His favour, so be it. The consequences are yours alone.
As for me, I have already been severely humbled by my religious pride. From that place of utter despair, I learned to rely on God’s grace alone, and the Lord rebuilt me better than before. He will do the same for all who honour the work of His Son.
I did not shrink back from declaring everything I felt burdened to share with the church. What you choose to do with this message is now your responsibility, not mine. In this regard, my hands are clean. I am free of you all.
